Roma Court
Situated within the Silver Strand waterfront community of Marina del Rey, this residence explores the relationship between contemporary architecture, water, and the Southern California coastal climate. The home is organized around a sequence of interconnected indoor and outdoor spaces that maximize natural light, ventilation, and views.
The material palette combines polished concrete, teak, mahogany, and expansive glazing to create a warm modern environment. A floating teak staircase serves as a central sculptural element, connecting living spaces that extend toward the lagoon and rooftop terraces. Large operable openings blur the boundary between interior and exterior, reinforcing a lifestyle centered on the waterfront setting.
The project integrates sustainable strategies, including solar energy generation and automated environmental controls, while maintaining a strong emphasis on craftsmanship, material expression, and connection to place. The result is a contemporary coastal residence that reflects both the maritime character of Silver Strand and David Hertz Architects’ interest in environmentally responsive design.
