the venice place project
Venice Place is a proposed adaptive reuse, mixed-use development that contextually responds to the history of Abbot Kinney while accommodating the boulevard’s increasing importance as a local destination.
The design promotes a hybrid strategy for respecting the neighborhood fabric and community stakeholders: certain existing structures will be preserved to maintain the look and feel of Abbot Kinney, and new construction weaves those buildings together with massing and materiality that reflects the character of the street.
Reflecting the area’s historic “walk streets,” multiple pedestrian pathways carve through the complex of buildings. The development is designed to be an example of sustainable, humanist urbanism.
New amenities include a boutique hotel, expanded courtyard, pocket park spa, eateries, shops, creative office space, residential units, and a subterranean robotic parking garage.
