David Hertz’s firm designed a self sufficient eco-pod as a part of Airbnb’s local hospitality project happening this week, Hello LA, which celebrates some of the most fascinating people, places and experiences in LA.  David’s Eco-Pod, located at Cook's Garden by HGEL in Venice, incorporates green elements such as off-grid batteries from Ojai Energy Systems and Lumos translucent photovoltaic panels by Permacity Solar.  This structure is completely green, including Living Walls with flourishing plants growing vertically  in a balanced design.  Sustainability is further celebrated with curation by celebrity actress, and director Angelica Huston.

By writing love letters to LA, selective local residence won overnight stays to the Eco-Pod and VIP access to the special events happening this week.   If you missed the Harvest Dinner, Green Workshop: Secrets of the Homegrown Artisanal Cocktail, or Abbot Kinney Festival you still have the opportunity to attend events at the Eco-Pod with the Green Workshop: Aromatherapy, Tuesday, Oct 1st from 3-5pm, and the First Friday Artwalk this Friday in the evening.  This incredible green structure is open to the public throughout this week before voyaging around the country to San Francisco and New York.
