World Surf League Trophy

We were given the opportunity to design a new trophy to celebrate the historic 40th anniversary of the World Surf League Championships.  Keeping the general size of the bowl and the base, we reimagined the possibilities of the form, drawing inspiration from the arc of a perfect wave and the fin of a surfboard.   The pewter metal body incorporates sand from the home beaches of each of the champions of the past forty years, and select panels of sustainably sourced Koa wood from Hawaii were used to make the base.   The names of the past 40 years of the men's and women's champions are inscribed inside each trophy bowl, and the names of future champions will be inscribed on the outer surface of the bowl.

The new WSL trophies pay homage to 40 years of past champions.
